From Objects To Agents

Abstract

In this talk I introduce autonomous agents and multiagent systems. I define the term “intelligent” of intelligent agents and I explain the difference between objects and agents, object-oriented paradigm and agent-oriented paradigm. Some words about JaCaMo ends the talk.

Author’s short Bio

Matteo Baldoni is an associate professor at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Torino since 2006. He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science in May 1998 from the University of Torino. From 1999 through 2006 he has been researcher at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Torino.

He was director of the second edition of the “Master in Alto Apprendistato in IA” at the University of Torino and he is responsible for the master curriculum of computer science in “Intelligenza Artificiale e Sistemi Informatici - Pietro Torasso” of the University of Torino. He is responsible of the node of Torino of Laboratorio Nazionale CINI “Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems”.

In the last years the research activity of Matteo Baldoni focused on the areas of Multigent Systems. He organized many national and international workshops and conferences such as WOA, DALT, EMAS, PRIMA, EASSS, AIxIA.
